Importing an Existing List

Omnistar Email Marketing Software is equipped to import lists you may have gathered to use with other solutions, so that anyone who is currently using a mailing list solution could benefit from switching to omnistar Email Marketing Software.

Follow the following steps to import a mailing list.

STEP 1: Setup your mailing list

You should create the mailing list you want to import to. Add one user to this list, they do not have to be a real user, they are being added to demonstrate the format when you export the list.


STEP 2: Download the list

From the main admin page, click Manage Subscribers. Edit the mailing list you wish to import emails into, and at the bottom of the page you will find a link that says Download All Emails, click it.


STEP 3: Edit the File

This file contains your mailing list. Add the email addresses and any other fields you have chosen to include in the list. Under the column Subscribe you should mark every email yes, otherwise they will be added to the software as a user but not subscribed to a mailing list. Do not edit any of the User Confirm or Un-Subscribe fields, these are used by the software for internal tracking. Send confirm should be set to no if you do not want to send out a confirmation email to the email. If you wish to immediately send out a campaign, you can add its name to the Send Stored Campaign field. Finally, you want all emails you are adding to be marked with an A under action. If you wish to edit an existing email, enter E, and if you wish to delete the email listing, change the letter to D.


STEP 4. Import

Simply return to the manage users page and edit the list, then scroll to the bottom of the page and upload the file you just edited. You can also upload files that use other delimiters besides comas, simply enter the character into the delimiter box if you are using one of these formats.
